For a couple of years prior to 1967, Meek made available a flat which he leased at 224 Holloway road to Ritchie Blackmore along with his wife and first child. This strategic move from Meek however kind, allowed Blackmore to be on hand for sessions at 304.

Whilst Ritchie was away on tour in Germany of 1966, his wife Margaret would pop over to 304 to talk to Joe and occasionally engage in mystical chats warding off lonely evenings. It is thought Margaret visited 304 early in the morning on the 3rd of February 1967 and was greeted by Joe. He asked her to pop off to get him some milk but upon her return the police were already at the scene.
